I thought I would begin this blog by giving a brief overview of Intel's Skylake CPU platform. The first CPUs to be released were the Core i7-6700K and the Core i5-6600K. The first LGA socket 1151 motherboards were released at the same time, and were the first mainstream motherboards to support DDR4 RAM (X99 motherboards supported DDR4, but X99 is a high end enthusiast platform).
Skylake features a number of improvements over Haswell and Broadwell microarchitectures, and they will be the dominant force in computer processors for a long time to come.
